Love is...
Never selfish, it can give and give and give and expect nothing in return, ever.
Looking out for each other.
Never losing your sense of humour together.
Embracing each other every single day.
Craving to be around that person all the minutes they are away from you, only to sit contently in silence together.
Being there right to the very last breath, holding hands and giving comfort knowing your story together was epic, it touched the lives and hearts of many around you to fuel and inspire many more great love stories.
This is a tribute to my dear husbands grandfather who this morning passed away. If we ever wanted to aspire our marriage to be like another, it would be Harry and Joan. Who honestly gave Noah and Allie competition in the beautiful love story category. I often walked away from visits at their home with a twinkle of a tear in my eye and a heart full of admiration.
Last month while visiting his grandparents, we sat and watched Joan jolt to every cough, tend to him and tell us how each and every day she comes and sits next to him until visiting hours are over (Harry had been in hospital full time for a VERY long time). Each night as she would kiss him goodbye she would continually sneak back into his room to say goodbye 'one last time'.
As the most witty, down to earth and lovable person I know meets a very hard day today when she says goodbye to her soul mate, it is not without admiration of their journey together. A truly great love story.
