Welcome to a truly splendid week. No really. Over the weekend, while on our traditional Sunday morning coffee at Friars, the streets were lined with people enjoying the sunshine. Spring put on its best performance and it was a truly stunning start to my time off.
Today I write this from my home office, with the breeze flowing in, warm sunshine on my face. I have just finished painting the first coat on my kitchen and about to get into some homework. The husband is dropping home for lunch shortly too. I feel relaxed, inspired and totally happy. This is the beginning of a 2 week rejuvenation and doing things I love. I have cut back to 3 day working weeks during this time.
Never before has time been taken off just for ME, with nowhere to be and no manic schedule of things to do.
This is a snippet of my time off so far...
New Traditions
It is no secret I love good coffee. Also, I barely find time to read a book, which lead to a new tradition. Every Friday morning, I leave a little earlier and head to my local fav coffee shops and just read. When I leave I feel clear, focused and ready for the day ahead.
Making me smile this week: making REAL progress on hoe renovations / meeting with a gorgeous bride-to-be planning her special day / Malibu and Coke / feeling the warm breeze and sunshine / The Lane's editorial shoots / Fenton and Fenton / making time to see friends more often.
What is making you excited this week? have you ever planned time off for just YOU? What did you get up to?

Hi Mon
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading above. Thank you for the inspiring quote.I have, for the first time in my working life, given myself a week's long service leave!! Being self-employed, I always feel the pressure of having to make dollars when the work is there. Even though I only work four days a week and get plenty of holidays really due to my work being connected to the school terms,I have never taken time off just for me and because I can! No one else is going to give it to me! Whether I will go an a holiday or just stay at home soaking up the sun, reading and tending the spring garden I am not sure of yet, but I can't wait for the next week of work to be complete! Sadly there are no coffee shops near the farm at home. When we go to Melbourne to visit the girls, that is my chance to soak up the metro lifestyle! Oh, and I am looking forward to going to Melbourne this weekend as Kate and Gav fly back into town :)
Have a lovely day

Hi Mon! I just read your comment on Kims' (Dream Delight Inspire) post "We're all Human: Facing Perfectionism" and I really connected with it because sometimes I feel the same way. I used to worry that maybe I just wasn't as positive as all these bright, bubbly sparks in our blogging community. But you are right that it is human to feel down sometimes. I think it is wonderful that you are always striving for positivity through your blog and your Mondayitis Medication posts. I especially loved this one - so happy you've had some time at home for you and that you've started some new traditions! xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Kylie, I love your recent post about Spring and the way it makes you feel. Definately a great time to rejuvinate and reconnect with yourself.
DeleteThe time I have taken off so far has been so great, I think I like working part time a little too much! But I have also re-ignited some motivation for my day job at the same time.
